Macedonian hockey club Metalurg member of the BAHL (Balkan Hockey League) has added three Canadian players to its roster for the upcoming trip to Sofia, where they will face the Ice Devils, Dinamo Sofia both from Bulgaria and All Star from Yunanistan.
All matches will take place starting Friday at 19:50 against Bulgaria's Ice Devils, Saturday at 18:00 against Dinamo Sofia and Sunday the most interesting match of course is against All Star.
Because hockey is relatively new sport to Macedonians, about half of Metalirg's players come from elsewhere. The current roster is Vlade Ilievski (Macedonia), Bosko Jovanovic (Serbia), Ivan Bacevski (Macedonia), Stefan Deckovski (Macedonia), Ryan Miles (Canada), Kristijan Grcevski (Macedonia), Zoranco Ginevski (Macedonia), Aleksandar Mijuskovic (Serbia), Ivica Taskov (Macedonia), Uros Banovic (Serbia), Chris Pavlovski (Canada), Anton Wiklund (Sweden), Claudio Ramolo (Canada).
The BAHL league is in its infancy and is trying very hard to establish a reputation for itself. Metalurg's foreign players think the league has a very long way to go, particularly after an 'incident' two weeks ago in Sofia when referees didn't allow two goals for the Skopje based team because they didn't see the puck going into the net. Refs blamed Metalurg's player for shooting the puck too fast. Yes, the BAHL has a long way to go.
