Balkan Hockey Festival in Turkey

The first tournament of Balkan Cooperation agreement will begin tomorrow in Turkey. Macedonia makes its debut in an official competition




After a first tentative aborted in last April in Novi Sad, the Balkan Ice Hockey Union, - the entity created last year under IIHF patronage between all Balkan countries plus Turkey with the goal of developing hockey in this region - finally announced the first Balkan Hockey Festival, a U16 tournament involving all the members, helding in Kocaeli (Turkey) from 29 August to September 3. Countries partecipating are: host Turkey, Romania, Greece, Slovenia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Macedonia. Croatia forfeited alleging tournament dates are very early in the season. Also bosnia partecipation is still unsure. The tournament will be historic for Macedonia: the country will debut in its first ever official games.
